Question by blueyonder: Can I use my vacuum cleaner after it got wet?
My vacuum cleaner got wet after our basement flooded ( a few inches of standing water). the vacuum cleaner got wet in the process. it is totally dry now, but not sure if it would be safe to use as I do not want to get electrocuted.

Open up your vacuum to the air for about a week to be on the safe side to make sure it is perfectly dry. Then plug it in ,turn it on and stand next to the wall socket you plugged it into.
If it starts smoking buy a new vacuum.
Neither smoke, sparks or flame, clean house..

  1. make sure it is totally dry as above mentioned... Also make sure you have a good mains switch that has a trip switch on it - hopefully that will prevent you getting shocked.. if you are still unsure call out an elecrtician to do the deed ...
